Teach Online at Cosmo 1:1

Join Cosmo 1:1 (formerly ClassUp), the premiere online learning platform that connects K-12 students in the US, Canada, and across Asia with tutors from top universities and colleges for personalised lessons. As a tutor for Cosmo 1:1, you will have a flexible and consistent schedule that you set. For this role, you'll be teaching ESL students based in Singapore and Hong Kong using the Cosmo curriculum.

This is the perfect opportunity for experienced educators to connect with students in an after-school setting. You will meet your students at a set time each week for 50-minute, one-on-one lessons. As a Cosmo 1:1 tutor, you will build a welcoming and fun learning environment for your students while helping them grow. It is important for our teachers to be reliable role models for our students—coming to class well prepared, on time—and having a passionate and kind demeanor.

This is an independent contractor position. The pay rate for this position is $20 USD per class, plus additional incentives.


About the Role

  • Flexible scheduling: Set your own hours during specified availability periods.
  • Teach ESL: Deliver 1-on-1 lessons to students in Singapore and Hong Kong using the Cosmo curriculum.
  • Supporting students: Foster a positive, adaptive, and encouraging learning environment.

Cosmo Teacher Responsibilities

  • Provide personalised 1-on-1 instruction tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Update your availability in the Cosmo App in a timely manner.
  • Prepare appropriate lesson materials suited to the student’s age and ability level.
  • Submit class feedback after every lesson.
  • Communicate with parents and students in a professional manner.
  • Attend all classes on time, in a professional and well-setup environment.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Cosmo staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (any field).
  • 3 years of experience teaching grades K-12 in English Language Arts (ELA).
  • Experience with K-12 ELA standards and curriculum development.
  • Experience teaching ESL learners.
  • Teaching qualification (preferred but not required).
  • Reliable internet connection and access to a Windows or Mac PC with a minimum CPU speed of 6000MHz.
  • Commitment to teaching with Cosmo 1:1 for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Availability between:
    • 8 AM - 2 PM GMT (weekdays) or
    • 5 AM - 2 PM GMT (weekends).
  • Minimum 20 hours of weekly availability across your chosen time slots.
  • Access to a private and quiet location for teaching.
  • Passion for helping students learn.
  • Currently based in the UK.
