About Mercor’s Project

Mercor is partnering with a cutting-edge generative-music AI lab to build the next frontier in audio technology. You’ll help shape the future by evaluating and annotating AI-generated music. Your role involves high-impact, structured tasks that convert subjective musical judgments into actionable data to train AI models. Genres and languages will be matched to your expertise for a personalised workflow.


Compensation & Structure

  • Rate: $30–$65 USD/hour (varies with experience and task complexity).
  • Format: 100% remote, independent contractor (no full-time commitment).
  • Flexibility: Part-time, self-scheduled hours—no rigid schedules.
  • Payments: Weekly via Stripe or Wise.

Core Responsibilities

Your work will focus on measured, objective evaluating tasks:

  • Preference Labeling Compare two AI-generated tracks per prompt and rank qualities like:

    • Instruction adherence
    • Audio fidelity
    • Production quality
    • Vocal clarity
    • Musicality Write analytical rationales explaining your choices for training该 AI.
  • Music Captioning Craft schema-consistent descriptions for each track, including:

    • Genre, instrumentation
    • Song structure with timing annotations
    • Key, tempo, stylistic era
  • Lyric Alignment Synchronise lyrics with tracks word-for-word (karaoke-style), correcting:

    • Transcription errors
    • Dropped/looped words
    • Pronunciation artifacts

Strict Eligibility & Profile Requirements

Only highly qualified audio professionals need apply. ✔ Must be a trained musician, producer, or musicologist with excellent critical listening skills across multiple genres. ✔ Prove success evaluating artistic fidelity, production standards, and prompt adherence. ✔ Employ structured analytical frameworks—elaborate your rationale with clear, falsifiable justifications. ✔ Pass an academic-style calibration phase (Rubric Academy) and sign:

  • Confidentiality agreement (NDA)
  • Background check

Bonus: Extensive audio production/mixing, formal music degrees, or multilingual lyric expertise will strengthen your candidacy.
