Physics Analysis Specialist – Large Language Model Fine-Tuning
Location: Fully remote Contract Type: Freelancer (no benefits except assignment-based compensation)

Role Overview
You’ll work on cutting-edge projects fine-tuning large language models (LLMs)—such as ChatGPT—using strong analytical and communication skills.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A solid foundation in Physics, equivalent to:
- STEM/engineering entrance exam knowledge (e.g., GATE, GRE, or similar)
- Graduate or PhD-level rigor in problem-solving
- Exceptional ability to:
- Break down complex physics concepts into clear, digestible explanations
- Work efficiently under deadlines

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and test challenging physics problems to identify limitations in current LLM performance.
- Create structured, high-quality problem solutions with:
- Step-by-step reasoning
- Well-articulated logical frameworks
- Visual aids (when beneficial)
- Collaborate with LLM researchers to:
- Align problem sets with specific evaluation goals
- Focus on areas where models typically fail (e.g., abstraction, multi-step reasoning, symbolic manipulation)
- Collaborate on designing new evaluation benchmarks inspired by:
- Undergraduate physics curricula
- Advanced topics for PhD-level rigor
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Analytical Skills: Strong research and problem-solving expertise.
- Feedback & Annotation: Ability to:
- Provide constructive, detailed feedback
- Annotate LLM outputs methodically
- Creative Thinking: Requires lateral problem-solving capabilities.
- Communication:
- Excel at structured written communication
- Manage remote collaboration effectively
- Independence: Highly self-motivated with the ability to:
- Work remotely without supervision
- Manage time efficiently in asynchronous settings.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a PhD or postdoctoral degree in:
- Physics
- Applied Physics
- Other related scientific disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Structurally decompose complex physics problems
- Synthesize solutions with clarity and logical consistency
- Strong aptitude for simplification: Comfort translating advanced physics concepts into:
- Simple language
- Visual tools
- Rigorous reasoning frameworks
