Renal Staff Nurse
Band 5 Registered Nurse – G8 Renal Unit, Frimley Park Hospital
Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the G8 Renal Unit at Frimley Park Hospital.
We are seeking an enthusiastic nurse with post-registration experience, flexible in working across a full range of shifts—including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
About the Role
The G8 Renal Unit is an 8-bedded ward specialising in:
- Care for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease
- Delivery of inpatient dialysis (including haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis)
- Specialist treatment of patients with severe acute kidney injury
Referrals come from a broad spectrum of medical and surgical specialties, offering diverse clinical experiences. Our team is proud of its welcoming atmosphere, supportive culture, and commitment to high-quality, compassionate care.
We welcome nurses from varied backgrounds, including those with no prior renal experience, as full induction and ongoing support is provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Individual patient care: Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation with minimal supervision
- Multi-disciplinary teamwork: Ensure treatments align with existing policies
- Expert development:
- Train in renal-specific skills (exclusive to this ward)
- Act as a trust-wide expertise resource for dialysis procedures
- Support new staff under a structured training programme
- Flexibility: Will work across all units within the renal department as required

Education & Certifications
Essential
- Active NMC registration
Desirable
- Degree-level nursing qualification
- ENB 998/mentorship preparation
Experience
Essential
- Post-registration experience in a hospital environment
Desirable
- Prior experience in renal nursing
- Collaboration in multi-disciplinary discharge planning
Skills & Competencies
- Clinical proficiencies:
- IV drug administration & cannulation
- Venepuncture
- Basic life support
- Communication: Strong written and verbal skills
Special Requirements
- Flexibility: Must be available to work rotating shifts, weekends, and bank holidays
- Capacity to utilise skills across hydrodepartments as required
