About Sureserve Energy Services UK
At Sureserve Energy Services UK, excellence is not just an expectation; it's our standard. We are at the forefront of providing stellar asset and energy services across the UK. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to elevate the quality of life in the communities we serve by innovating and improving the spaces where people reside, work, and gather.
About the Role
This is a pivotal role, based in Livingston, established to bridge the gap between high-level project management and technical design execution. Leading a small team of design engineers, you will supervise the full project lifecycle, spanning investment-grade proposals, carbon reduction strategies, and complex renewable energy system integrations (including Solar PV, ASHP, and emerging technologies) for both residential and commercial portfolios.
This will suit a commercially-minded, technically robust leader who can drive environmental change, optimize design team workflows, and deliver cost-effective, future-ready energy solutions that maximize ROI for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of renewable design engineers while managing the overall design pipeline.
- Allocate design resources effectively to support Project Managers, Contracts Managers, and field installation teams.
- Conduct technical reviews to ensure strict numerical accuracy, design integrity, and compliance across all team outputs.
- Optimize Solar PV, Air Source Heat Pump, and heat recovery designs to maximize long-term reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Guide the team in translating client briefs into high-margin, innovative investment-grade energy proposals.
- Analyze measured energy data and fuel usage to help clients lower carbon emissions and improve portfolio ROI.
- Manage complex design projects through their full lifecycle, from initial energy assessment to final installation sign-off.
- Ensure all system designs meet existing Building Regulations, planning policies, and future legislative shifts.
- Provide expert troubleshooting and swift design revisions during the retrofit and installation phases.
- Maintain an up-to-date technical understanding of emerging renewable technologies (e.g., hydrogen gas, advanced storage).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
