Renewables Specialist
Renewables Specialist Brighton (Hybrid - Mondays & Thursdays office-based) Up to £50,000
Would you like to join Hyde as a Renewables Specialist?
We are looking for a technically minded and customer-focused person to help manage Hyde's domestic renewable, electrical and non-gas heating services across our homes.
This is not a traditional hands-on heating engineer role. You do not need to hold gas, heating, Solar PV or renewable qualifications to apply. We are interested in people with strong technical judgement, contractor management skills and experience from backgrounds such as renewable energy, Solar PV, heat pumps, electrical services, building services, housing maintenance, technical support, installation coordination, repairs delivery or compliance.
You will help us improve service delivery, resolve complex issues, support customers and contribute to cleaner, more efficient energy solutions across Hyde's homes.
What you'll be doing
Help plan and deliver servicing, maintenance, remedial works and installations for renewable, electrical and non-gas domestic systems, including Solar PV where applicable. Work with contractors to ensure works are completed on time, within budget and to the right quality standards. Review surveys, reports, quotations and recommendations, challenging where needed to protect quality and value for money. Monitor contractor performance, customer outcomes, compliance, complaints and recurring faults. Use data, feedback and operational insight to improve services, reduce avoidable cost and prevent repeat issues. Work closely with customers and colleagues to resolve issues and improve resident understanding of systems. Visit homes where needed to support diagnosis, gather evidence and provide clear advice on system use and energy efficiency. Keep up to date with changes in legislation, technology and best practice across renewable energy, Solar PV and low carbon heating.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
