The Renewals Plant Maintenance Fitter
# About the Role The Renewals Plant Maintenance Fitter will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and preparation of equipment for hire, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
Ensure adherence to rules, regulations, and standards, while prioritising health and safety—both for yourself and colleagues. A safe system of work must always be followed.
# What You’ll Be Doing
- Repair, maintain, and prepare equipment for hire
- Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and standards
- Maintain a safe system of work and protect health and safety
- Keep regular contact with customers in the field:
- Gather feedback on service quality
- Update relevant individuals on progress and problems
- Follow up and resolve equipment-related issues effectively
- Communicate with the Foreman Fitter regarding:
- Performance updates
- Coverage and objectives
- Oversee and streamline paperwork processing for smooth workflow
- Ensure cost-effective procurement of goods and services
- Report safety issues to the Maintenance Supervisor as required

- Completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship
- Multi-trade skills in:
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Pneumatic & Hydraulic systems
- Experience in the rail industry
- Strong resource management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Willingness to drive road vehicles (where required)
- Ability to work to Maintenance programme timescales/deadlines
- Medical fitness and ability to maintain the required standards
- Knowledge of:
- Health & Safety legislation
- Risk management
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) awareness
