Rent & Service Charge Analyst

Based in Kent | Hybrid Working (3 Days On-Site)
Contract Until March 2027
£240 - £250 Per day via Umbrella Company

We are currently recruiting for a Rent & Service Charge Analyst to join a respected Housing Association based in Kent. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced service charge professional to play a key role in the year-end accounts process, service charge reconciliation, customer query resolution and annual rent and service charge setting.

The successful candidate will work closely with finance, housing and operational teams to ensure service charges are set accurately, remain compliant with legislation, and maximise cost recovery across a varied portfolio including shared ownership, leasehold and private homeowner properties.

Rent & Service Charge Analyst - Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and reconcile annual service charge budgets, estimates and year-end accounts, ensuring full compliance with legislation, regulations and lease requirements
  • Lead on annual rent and service charge reviews, including issuing statutory notices within required timescales
  • Calculate and review service charges across a mixed-tenure portfolio including leaseholders, shared owners, tenants and homeowners
  • Investigate service charge variances, analyse large data sets and provide meaningful insight to support decision-making
  • Review managing agent accounts, invoices and statements, ensuring costs are accurate and fully recoverable
  • Support external and internal audit requirements by producing accurate records, reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Respond to customer, local authority and stakeholder queries relating to rents and service charges during key review and hypercare periods
  • Prepare rent and service charge budgets for new developments, working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain the integrity of rent and service charge data across housing management and finance systems
  • Contribute to process improvements, policy reviews and continuous enhancement of rent and service charge practices

Rent & Service Charge Analyst Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working within a Housing Association or social housing organisation
  • Proven experience calculating, setting and reconciling service charges across multiple tenure types
  • Strong knowledge of service charge legislation, compliance requirements and apportionment methodologies
  • Essential experience supporting year-end accounts and service charge reconciliations
  • Experience working with leaseholders, shared owners, freeholders and private homeowners
  • Ability to analyse large volumes of financial data and investigate variances effectively
  • Strong communication skills with experience handling customer and stakeholder enquiries
  • Experience interpreting leases, tenancy agreements and occupation agreements
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs and data analysis
  • Experience using housing management and finance systems
  • Experience with Civica CX and Advanced Financials would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Professional housing qualification (CIH, TPI or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one is desirable
  • Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) would be beneficial
