Position Title & Details

  • Position: Medical Delivery Driver
  • Location: Field-based from our depot in Glasgow
  • Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
  • Shift Pattern: Rolling, alternating weeks as follows:
    • Week 1: Monday to Friday (rest days: Saturday & Sunday)
    • Week 2: Wednesday to Sunday (rest days: Monday & Tuesday)
    • Week 3: Monday to Wednesday + Saturday & Sunday (rest days: Thursday & Friday)

About the Role

By working as part of the Northern Team, you will deliver and collect rental medical equipment to hospital sites for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (Edinburgh, NHS Lothian). Your duties will include:

  • Transporting equipment between depots and medical wards.
  • Delivering pressure-relieving mattresses and other specialised rental items.
  • Collecting equipment once it is no longer required.
  • Transcribing equipment serial numbers via iPad and iPhone for inventory tracking.

You will spend days alternating between work at the Glasgow depot and hospital site deliveries within a large van. Due to NHS demand, supplies must be delivered within four hours – reliability in logistics, planning, and adaptability is key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Load and drive the van to collect orders, preparing deliveries for hospitals or healthcare sites.
  • Protect patient access to essential equipment by adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Lift bulky mattresses and equipment for prolonged periods.
  • Depend on effective time management and prioritization.

Note: Whilst no prior experience is required, training will be provided. However, the job demands physical strength and practical driving skills, along with excellent organisation, communication and confidence.


Requirements

A valid UK driving licence must be held for at least one year with a clean driving record. Additional prerequisites include:

  • Advanced Practical and Routes Planning: Must clearly manage an unpredictable workload and adjust routes to meet demands.
