Repair Technician – Mechanical
Location: Solihull, West Midlands
Contract Type: Rolling Contract with Permanent Opportunity
Shift Pattern: Rotating 3 Shift Pattern
About The Role
Apex Recruitment is supporting the recruitment of a Repair Technician – Mechanical to join a leading automotive manufacturing facility in Solihull. This Repair Technician – Mechanical position is initially offered on a rolling contract basis, with a strong opportunity for permanent conversion following a successful review period.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment and systems remain operational, delivering high-quality repair solutions while maintaining production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical repairs and fault diagnosis.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement solutions.
- Support continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance completed.
- Work safely and effectively in accordance with company procedures.

Ideal Candidate
- Mechanical engineering, maintenance or technician background.
- Experience within manufacturing, automotive or industrial environments.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Previous experience as a Repair Technician – Mechanical would be advantageous.
Contract Information
This position is offered on a rolling contract basis, with the opportunity for permanent employment following a successful review period. The successful Repair Technician – Mechanical will support production and maintenance activities across the facility.

Working Hours
Candidates Will Generally Work a Rotating Three-shift Pattern
- Mornings: 06:00 – 13:30
- Afternoons: 13:30 – 21:00
- Nights: 21:00 – 06:00
There may also be a requirement to work double days:
- Early Shift: 06:00 – 14:00
- Late Shift: 14:00 – 22:00

Please note, this role is deemed inside of IR35. The Umbrella Pay Rate offered is inclusive of the Assignment pay rate, holiday pay, and Apex Recruitment's contribution towards Employer Costs.
