We’re looking for a Repairs Inspector to join our Responsive Repairs team in Basingstoke! Whilst your contractual base is Basingstoke, you’ll be working on housing stock across the North Hampshire and surrounding areas. You’ll have use of a company van and fuel card for your work travel.
This is a full time, permanent role working 37 hours per week

Here’s The Facts About The Role
As a Repairs Inspector, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the quality, safety and compliance of all works delivered through our responsive repairs service. Working independently, you’ll carry out health and safety inspections, post-work quality checks, contractor monitoring and customer visits to ensure repairs are completed safely, meet required specifications and achieve a right-first-time standard.

Acting as a key quality assurance presence across the business, you’ll help drive high standards of workmanship, customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
What You’ll Be Doing (non-exhaustive List)
This is a varied role where no two days are the same. As a Repairs Inspector, you'll be responsible for ensuring repairs are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest possible standard. Your duties will include:
- Carrying out inspections of responsive repairs completed by both our Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) and external contractors.
- Undertaking post-inspection quality checks to ensure work meets required standards and customers are satisfied with the service provided.
- Monitoring contractor performance, workmanship quality and compliance with service level agreements.
- Conducting Health & Safety inspections to ensure all works comply with legislation, policies and best practice.
- Ensuring repairs meet Decent Homes Standards, HHSRS requirements, building safety regulations and organisational specifications.
- Identifying poor-quality workmanship, challenging unacceptable standards and ensuring defects are rectified promptly.
- Carrying out joint inspections with contractors and internal teams where required.
- Visiting customers to investigate complaints, assess issues and support successful resolutions.
- Preparing detailed specifications for rechargeable works, complaint-related repairs and referrals for planned maintenance programmes.
- Providing technical feedback and recommendations to Repairs Supervisors, helping to improve processes, performance and service delivery.
- Taking ownership of inspections and enquiries, ensuring issues are followed through to resolution.

To be successful in this role
You’ll have a strong understanding of responsive repairs, void property standards and relevant housing legislation, together with a sound knowledge of Decent Homes Standards, HHSRS, Awaab's Law and building safety requirements.
You'll have an awareness of key compliance areas including gas, electrical, asbestos, fire safety and water hygiene, and be able to confidently inspect properties, identify defects and spot areas of non-compliance.
With excellent attention to detail, you’ll produce clear and accurate inspection reports, challenge poor workmanship where necessary and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you'll work closely with customers, contractors and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes. You’ll also have a practical and solution-focused approach to problem solving, and be confident using mobile technology, inspection systems and Microsoft Office applications to support the effective delivery of the service.
A full, clean current driving licence (held for at least 1 year) is needed so you can drive one of our vans when necessary. Offers are subject to satisfactory driving licence checks.
