Bosham, West Sussex

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Repairs & Production Engineer to support the manufacture, repair, and development of our electronic products. This is a varied and practical role combining component-level fault diagnosis, production assembly, prototype support, customer liaison, and compliance assistance.
The successful candidate will act as our lead Repairs Engineer, taking ownership of product repairs from initial assessment through to completion, quotation, documentation, and customer communication. They will also support production activities and assist in the development of new products.
Key Responsibilities
Repairs & Fault Finding
- Diagnose and repair electronic products to component level.
- Carry out systematic fault finding using appropriate test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supplies, etc.).
- Assess returned products and provide accurate repair quotations.
- Communicate directly with customers regarding repair findings, costs, and timescales.
- Complete all repair records, service reports, and company documentation accurately.
- Ensure repaired products are fully tested and meet quality standards before release.

Production & Assembly Support
- Assist in electronic assembly and box build operations.
- Perform soldering to IPC-A-610 standards.
- Support day-to-day manufacturing activities as required.
- Assist with production scheduling and workflow coordination.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control.
Prototype & Development Support
- Assist in building and testing prototypes for new product development.
- Support engineering changes and product improvements.
- Operate and maintain 3D printing equipment for prototype components and fixtures.
- Provide practical feedback to the development team based on build and test experience.
Compliance & Testing Support
- Assist with product safety compliance activities.
- Support EMC pre-compliance and formal testing processes.
- Ensure products meet internal quality requirements and relevant regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and records.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in electronic fault finding and component-level repair.
- Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics.
- Soldering/assembly to complement PCBA to at least IPC-A-610 Class 2 (PCBA means PCB Assembly).
- Experience in electronics assembly and box build.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
- Competent in the use of standard electronic test equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience operating a 3D printer.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, both internal and external.

Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting EMC and safety compliance testing.
- Knowledge of production planning or scheduling processes.
- Experience within a small-to-medium electronics manufacturing environment.
- IPC certification (preferred but not essential).
