The Reporter role is a full-time, on-site position based in Aberystwyth. The Reporter will research, gather, and verify information from multiple sources to produce accurate, clear, and timely news stories and reports related to cyber security, digital forensics, and associated sectors. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Interviewing subject matter experts
- Attending briefings or events
- Transforming complex technical information into accessible content for diverse audiences
The role involves writing and editing articles, features, and summaries for digital and print channels, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure consistent editorial standards. The Reporter may also contribute to multimedia storytelling, including basic audio, video, or visual content, while adhering to legal, ethical, and confidentiality requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong reporting and news writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate, clear, and engaging stories under deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to interview sources and present complex information in an accessible way.
- Solid writing skills for different formats (news, features, summaries) and audiences, with attention to clarity and tone.
- Experience or familiarity with multimedia content creation, such as basic audio, video, or visual storytelling.
- Relevant experience in journalism, communications, or a related field; a degree or equivalent qualification is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Strong research and fact-checking abilities, with high standards of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Interest in or exposure to cyber security, digital forensics, or technology reporting is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently on-site in Aberystwyth and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
