About the role:

CRU is seeking a Reporter / Editor to produce high-quality editorial content across BC Insight and CRU Communities for specialist professional audiences. This role combines reporting, writing, editing, and content coordination across print and digital channels, with opportunities to shape news, features, and market-focused commentary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Originate, research, report, write, and edit high-quality editorial content across BC Insight and CRU Communities for print, digital, and newsletter channels.
  • Produce short-form news, market updates, and long-form feature content, adapting copy for different formats, audiences, and publishing cycles.
  • Develop story ideas and editorial plans in collaboration with editorial, analyst, and management colleagues.
  • Build and maintain strong industry relationships and use interviews, research, conference material, and market information to produce accurate, relevant, and engaging copy.
  • Support the planning and delivery of recurring editorial content, working with design and production colleagues to ensure output is accurate, timely, and aligned with house standards.
  • Represent BC Insight and CRU Communities externally through conferences, networking, moderation, social media activity, and collaboration with internal stakeholders in support of wider publishing objectives.

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ professional journalism, reporting, or reporter-editor experience.
  • Proven experience researching, reporting, and filing accurate, high-quality copy to deadline.
  • Experience producing both short-form news and longer-form feature content.
  • Strong interviewing skills and confidence dealing directly with sources.
  • Strong research, copy-editing, and story-development skills.
  • Ability to work across both print and digital editorial formats.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
  • Confidence representing a specialist editorial brand externally, both in person and online.
  • Willingness to travel and represent BC Insight and CRU Communities externally.
  • Willingness to maintain a professional presence on relevant social media channels.
  • Ability to attend the London office a minimum of two days per week.
  • Interest in markets, industry, commodities, chemicals, or industrial sectors.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in B2B, trade, or specialist journalism.
  • Familiarity with commodities, chemicals, fertilizers, industrial markets, or related sectors.
  • Experience with newsletters, digital publishing workflows, or multi-channel editorial production.
  • Experience working with analysts, technical experts, or other specialist contributors.
  • Experience attending, covering, or contributing to industry conferences and events.
  • Experience moderating panels, interviewing speakers, or participating in public-facing editorial activity.
  • Science literacy or confidence engaging with technical subject matter.
