Junior Reporting Accountant

About the Role

Assisting with the production of Syndicate reporting to Lloyd’s, including:

  • QMB
  • Solvency UK
  • US and Canadian situs reporting
  • RRQ
  • RRA
  • Annual and underwriting year financial statements

Core responsibilities include:

  • Producing analytics and commentary to support regular or ad hoc queries related to syndicate reporting
  • Liaising with stakeholders, particularly within Finance, to ensure timely and high-standard delivery
  • Ensuring reports adhere to relevant schedules and allow sufficient time for management review
  • Developing analytical tools and memos to accompany produced reports
  • Supporting the planning and scheduling of reports while allowing for management feedback and understanding of figures
  • Engaging in continuous diagnostics with underwriters and actuaries to deepen financial insights
  • Assisting with the audit process, coordinating with auditors, and ensuring timely completion

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and finalising mandated reports for Lloyd’s syndicate submissions
  • Generating custom analytics and commentary for both routine and urgent requests
  • Coordinating internal liaison with Finance teams and other key stakeholders
  • Enforcing timelines whilst ensuring quality and accuracy in final deliverables
  • Developing dashboard tools and accompanying interpretive notes
  • Contributing to planning frameworks ensuring timely revisions and scrutiny by senior management
  • Developing technical knowledge in interpretations of underwriting ratios and actuary reporting
  • Supporting audit & regulatory submissions by aligning with external requirements and ensuring completeness

Skills and Competencies Required

  • Time-sensitive delivery: Ability to meet tight deadlines while demonstrating adaptability.
  • Proactive ownership: Strong sense of accountability and independence with your responsibilities.
  • Attention to detail: Commitment to producing high-quality, accurate outputs.
  • Self-motivated: Ability to work with minimal guidance, troubleshoot problems, and seek solutions autonomously.
  • Commercial mindset: ‘Can-do’ approach with willingness to embrace additional challenges.
  • Competency in clear and effective communication across all levels of the organisation.

Education & Knowledge

  • Qualified Accountant: Preferably CA, ACCA, or CIMA credentials.
  • Industry familiarity: Thorough understanding of Lloyd’s accounting and reporting rules, UK GAAP, Solvency II, and Companies Act regulations.
  • Technical skills:
    • Advanced Excel proficiency (lookups, formulas, macros, pivot tables etc.)
    • Advanced report writing skills (structured, clear, and actionable documentation)
  • Lloyd’s software knowledge: Desirable but not essential.
