About the Role

The Technical Requirements Engineer will be an integral part of the Quality function and will play a critical role in ensuring the correct processing and release of customer orders into the manufacturing environment at Mettis. This is a technically demanding role requiring a deep understanding of aerospace specifications, including those relating to metal forming, heat treatment, and other NADCAP-designated special processes used throughout the Mettis manufacturing operation.

You will review technical aspects of customer contracts, drawings, and documentation, integrating customer requirements with Mettis standard processes to produce accurate, compliant, and cost-effective methods of manufacture. You will also be responsible for raising and maintaining manufacturing routes, Bills of Materials, and stock descriptions using the EFACS business management system, ensuring alignment with internal and customer-driven change processes.

As a condition of employment successful candidates are required to satisfy ITAR (International Traffic In Arms Regulations) compliance and must fulfil the following before commencing this role:

  • Currently hold the legal Right to Work in the UK
  • Fulfil a DBS clearance
  • Provide a consistent 5-year UK domicile
  • Pass Drugs & Alcohol screening at the start of their Mettis employment

  • Review drawings, specifications, and customer documentation to extract all necessary technical requirements
  • Generate complete methods of manufacture for new projects in line with customer specifications, Mettis processes, and internal cost standards
  • Modify existing methods of manufacture to support changes to materials, processes, or customer requirements
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and accurate stock extended descriptions aligned with customer technical standards
  • Raise and maintain manufacturing routes in EFACS in line with quoted methods and customer specifications
  • Update manufacturing methods in EFACS in response to customer change notifications or internal Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and cross-functional project teams
  • Review and support customer-specific approval documentation.
  • Raise customer-specific change request documents for new or existing product
  • Confirm specification issue control between Mettis documentation and customer documents
  • Integrate in-house process improvements and engineering developments into updated methods
  • Revise system records to reflect changes to material, operations, routing, or subcontract requirements
  • Liaise with internal teams, customers, and key stakeholders
  • Stamp or endorse documentation where required (e.g., FAIR, Engineering, Laboratory attention)
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to support order fulfilment and technical decision-making
  • Ensure the latest revisions of international and customer specifications are controlled, distributed for approval, and uploaded to the intranet

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
