Research and Development Engineer (Marine Logistics)

About the Role
We are delighted to partner with an innovative and fast-growing organisation to recruit a Research and Development Engineer (Marine Logistics).
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in developing advanced software solutions that support marine operations, offshore infrastructure, and global energy challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an internal expert in marine logistics planning and offshore operations
- Develop new software products and features using Python
- Design and implement efficient, robust algorithms
- Maintain and enhance existing software capabilities
- Identify and scope future product features and R&D opportunities
- Contribute to innovative research and development activities
- Deliver consultancy projects using in-house tools and expertise
- Represent the organisation at industry conferences and webinars
- Stay up to date with industry developments, including offshore wind and marine engineering

About You (Essential Requirements)
- Strong background in marine engineering and offshore operations
- Highly skilled in Python programming, with strong coding practices
- Experience in modelling real-world systems and understanding associated uncertainties
- Knowledge of marine logistics, vessel operations, and offshore infrastructure
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients and stakeholders
- Self-motivated, innovative, and solutions-focused
Desirable:
- Experience with marine planning or logistics software
- Knowledge of weather modelling or weather window analysis
- Experience within the energy sector, particularly offshore wind
- Understanding of areas such as floating wind, mooring systems, optimisation, or data science
- Experience working offshore in operations, maintenance, or installation
- Ability to contribute to proposals or business development
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members

Requirements
- Degree in a STEM-related subject (2:1 or above or equivalent)
- Right to work in the UK
