Research and Development Technician Apprentice

Hexcel is currently seeking a Research and Development Technician Apprentice for our Duxford, UK location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

  • Laboratory duties include preparing and evaluating composite materials.
  • Formulating and mixing resins and other chemicals, producing films and “prepreg” materials, curing laminates and performing a range of thermal analytical and mechanical tests.
  • Participating in research or new product development projects.
  • Planning the technical aspects of the work with guidance from their supervisor and providing technical observations, interpretation of results and to provide and execute experimental ideas based on technical inferences.
  • Developing expertise and developing a level of background understanding on technically relevant methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSE’s grade C, equivalent or above.
  • Educated in a technical subject, preferably in chemistry, materials or polymer science.
  • Preferably have practical experience of working in a laboratory. Practical experience in a chemical, polymer or materials science, process development or engineering environment would be an advantage.
  • Keen eye for detail and practically minded.
  • Able to demonstrate a proactive and methodical approach to work.
