Research and Development Technician Apprentice
About the Role

Become a part of the “strength within.” Hexcel is currently seeking a Research and Development Technician Apprentice for our Duxford, UK location.
Responsibilities
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Laboratory duties include preparing and evaluating composite materials.
- Formulating and mixing resins and other chemicals.
- Producing films and “prepreg” materials.
- Curing laminates and performing a range of thermal analytical and mechanical tests.
- Participating in research or new product development projects.
- Planning the technical aspects of the work with guidance from their supervisor.
- Providing technical observations, interpretation of results, and providing and executing experimental ideas based on technical inferences.
- Developing expertise and developing a level of background understanding on technically relevant methodologies.

Qualifications
- 5 GCSE’s grade C, equivalent or above.
- Educated in a technical subject, preferably in chemistry, materials, or polymer science.
- Preferably have practical experience of working in a laboratory.
- Practical experience in a chemical, polymer, or materials science, process development, or engineering environment would be an advantage.
- Keen eye for detail and practically minded.
- Able to demonstrate a proactive and methodical approach to work.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the country where the position is based.
