  • Research Assistant: £33,951 to £46,049 per annum, pro rata

Fixed-term appointment (0.67 FTE, 25 hours/week), ending 31 March 2027. Newcastle University is seeking two candidates:

### About the Role

Newcastle University’s School of History, Classics and Archaeology invites applications for a Research Associate (Educator Access) to support the Transforming Access project—a collaborative heritage science initiative expanding access to digital cultural collections. This role will focus on bridging research outputs with educational applications, particularly targeting UK primary and secondary schools, including the new machine-readable national curriculum (2027).

You will:

  • Collaborate with project partners (British School at Athens, British Institute at Ankara, and British School at Rome) to develop online teaching resources leveraging heritage science data.
  • Work with the IT Lead (design of digital tools) and Project Lead (grant submissions, stakeholder engagement) to ensure maximum educator uptake.
  • Expand project reach to further institutions via tailored training and resource curation.

Ideal candidates should blend expertise in education, curriculum, and edtech with research enthusiasm to democratise cultural heritage for broad audiences (researchers, educators, and the public).

Start date: 1 September 2026 (flexibility discussed for hybrid working). For informal queries: Sophie Moore (sophie.moore2@ncl.ac.uk).

(See full role profiles and metrics policy here).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
