Research Assistant Opportunity

Department of Clinical Psychology Fixed-term Contract: March 2026 – September 2027

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support the Clinical Psychology programme’s work in the homelessness sector. This critical post will help enhance evidence-based impact assessments of training placements for clinical psychologists working within homelessness services.

Previously, limited training opportunities existed due to barriers in supervision and placement expectations. Over the past two years, NHS England (NHSE) has piloted and financially supported a groundbreaking approach, extending this project to further explore and evaluate both direct and indirect benefits.

This role is ideally suited for those aspiring to become clinical psychologists, offering exposure to:

  • A team of applied psychologists
  • Homeless service partners
  • Trainees who prioritise lived experience advocacy, ongoing learning, and cultural change

Person Specification

Qualifications & Experience

  • A master’s degree in Psychology (or equivalent field)
  • Proven knowledge and implementation skills in:
    • Quantitative & qualitative research methodologies
    • Evaluation frameworks
  • Strong confidence in communication
    • Oral: ability to engage sensitively on complex or emotionally challenging topics
    • Written: clarity and research reporting skills

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
