- Research Assistant: from £37,118 to £39,114 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £40,202 per annum inclusive of London Weighting through sustained exceptional contribution.
- Research Fellow: from £41,292 to £48,557 inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £52,761 per annum inclusive of London Weighting through sustained exceptional contribution.

Role Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work for PIVOT project, making sure the delivery of project goals defined in an Innovate UK/APC project. The research activities will include:
- Understanding the performance of aluminium alloys through manufacturing, microstructure analysis and tensile test.
- Microstructural characterisation of aluminium alloys.
- Modelling and simulation of aluminium alloys for strengthening.
- Supporting the research activities to deliver new state of the art for automotives.
- Prepare project progress reports and final report of project.
- Prepare and deliver presentations at internal seminars and project progress meetings, and at national and international conferences.
They are also expected to interact with other researchers in BCAST and research engineers from industry.
Qualifications
The successful candidate is preferred to have a PhD degree (for successful RA, VIVA needs to be finished before interviewing and the final submission needs to be completed before starting the job) in materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering or another suitable engineering discipline. Research experience in solidification of metallic materials, and a deep working knowledge of microstructure and mechanical properties of metallic materials are essential. In addition, they should have good communication and presentation skills and be a team player.
