The Research Associate role is responsible for the delivery of antibodies and processes within our Antibody Development Platform (ADP) team in Cambridge. ADP is part of a wider global team discovering antibodies to a wide variety of targets for use within Abcam’s catalogue, and for external customers (including leaders from biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry). We provide high quality, high-performance antibodies utilising a number of approaches, including RabMAb® technology (our patented antibody technology) and Single B-cell cloning. This position reports to the ADP Scientist and is part of the Antibody Development Platform (ADP) team located in Cambridge, United Kingdom and will be on-site.

At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support multiple aspects of the antibody generation process for recombinant monoclonal antibody projects, using techniques such as: Mammalian Cell Culture, FACS, Molecular Biology as well as ELISA, Octet or HTRF.
  • Use liquid handling automation to support high throughput sampling and assays.
  • Contribute to and implement process improvements and optimization on current processes.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Educated to at least degree level in a life sciences-related subject.
  • Experience working in a scientific setting either within an academic lab or in industry.
  • Knowledge of an aspect of antibody discovery processes such Hybridoma or single B-cell Cloning.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Other plate based assay formats such as HTRF or Octet.
  • Other Antibody discovery processes such as Phage display, NGS or in silico development.
