Research Associate – International Centre for Future Health Systems & School of Built Environment

About the Role
The International Centre for Future Health Systems and the School of Built Environment at UNSW are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to advance the integration of building science, architectural research, and health promotion in the design of future health systems.
Role Overview
This role focuses on driving research to examine how the design and operation of buildings, health facilities, and communities impact health outcomes, including:
- Cardiovascular and respiratory diseases
- Injury risk reduction
- Mental health and social participation
- Climate-resilient and sustainable healthcare systems
The successful candidate will work across faculties—Faculty of Medicine and Health and Faculty of Arts Design and Architecture—to:
- Generate policy-relevant evidence for healthy, climate-resilient urban environments
- Develop interdisciplinary research collaborations
- Strengthen built environment determinants of health research
By filling this position, UNSW aims to position itself at the forefront of global research in health-promoting architectural design and future healthcare systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent and high-quality research on the interaction between the built environment, healthcare systems, and health outcomes
- A�क्षणichuctu मिलníkने बनतिर्घेन्त锿ज़हुन्न reżooसस्तенन and develop best-practice guidelines for healthy, climate-resilient buildings and communities
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on projects integrating health systems, architecture, and policy
- Lead research publications, conference presentations, and policy recommendations
- Ensure alignment with UNSW’s strategic research priorities in future health systems and sustainable design

Core Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

A PhD in a related discipline, such as:
- Architecture
- Architectural science
- Building science
- Construction
- Health systems(respoublic health, medicine[sirankewresyanter或otrol]
- Relevant postdoctoral research experience is required.

A proven track record of:
- Keeping up with emerging developments in built environment and future health systems research
- Undertaking independent research without excessive supervision
- Publishing high-impact journal articles and conference presentations

Advanced proficiency in:
- Research methodologies related to health systems and urban design
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration (particularly within academia, policy, and industry)

Demonstrated skills in:
- Policy relevance (translating research into actionable recommendations)
- Mentoring and cross-faculty teamwork

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
