The Opportunity
We are looking for a Research Consultant (Real Assets) to join our Investment Consulting department. As part of the firm’s globally recognised independent investment advisory practice, you’ll support a diverse range of clients including pension schemes, central banks, charities, and insurers—helping them achieve their investment goals through rigorous, independent research and analysis.
At the heart of our work is deep fund-manager research and sector analysis, providing clear insights for smart investment decisions.
What You’ll Do

Conduct in-depth research into real asset strategies and their managers, including:
- Researching real assets investment products offered by investment managers.
- Providing clear, well-justified recommendations on fund manager products for our clients.
- Identifying emerging trends and market opportunities in real estate and infrastructure sectors, and assessing their potential impact on client portfolios.
- Collaborating with client-facing teams, analysts, and stakeholders to align research efforts with client objectives.
- Maintaining strong relationships with industry experts, peers, and external sources to stay ahead of market trends.

Deliver high-impact research outputs, including:
- Producing high-quality research reports, whitepapers, and thought leadership materials.
- Researching services and secondary market providers help investors raise liquidity from illiquid real assets.
- Conducting investment manager research and formulating views on the strengths/abilities of fund managers across assigned asset classes.
- Leading/influencing internal research discussions, meetings, and analysis sessions.

Support client engagements:
- Conducting due diligence reviews on fund managers and their operational processes.
- Reviewing fund documentation to critically assess options.
- Ensuring evidence-based recommendations—with meticulous documentation, logical structure, and defensible conclusions.
- Reviewing work of junior colleagues, ensuring quality and reasonable judgment.

Shape investment strategies with clients:
- Helping them design real assets strategies tailored to investment objectives.
- Present findings to consultants and clients through high-quality written and spoken materials.
Skills and Experience
We’ll be seeking candidates with:
- Several years’ experience in real assets, preferably in a manager research or asset management role at an investment consultancy, wealth manager, fund-of-funds, or in-house asset-owning organisation.
- Knowledge of Real Assets and their associated investment strategies.
- Understanding environmental/social impact in real estate and infrastructure assessment, including techniques and standard metrics.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including ability to persuade and build logical arguments under pressure.
- Time management and delegation skills to handle variable, often high workloads.
- Proficiency in Excel, data processing, and project management.
- Professional qualification in investment, finance, or surveying preferred.
