Research Director

Research Director – Sport & Strategic Insight

London (Hybrid – 2 days in the office)

Are you an experienced Research Director looking to lead one of the most high-profile client accounts in the insights industry? This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected strategic insight consultancy, leading research for a globally recognised organisation within the sports sector. You'll be the trusted advisor to a flagship client, delivering commercially impactful insight whilst helping to shape the future direction of the account.

The Opportunity

  • You'll lead a major client relationship, overseeing a varied programme of qualitative and quantitative research that influences strategic decision-making at the highest level.
  • Working alongside specialists in strategy, data science and analytics, you'll help solve complex business challenges and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Alongside leading outstanding research, you'll play a key role in developing the client relationship, identifying new opportunities and contributing to the wider success of the business.

The Role

  • Lead a flagship client account within the sports sector.
  • Design and deliver high-quality mixed-methodology research programmes.
  • Translate insight into clear, strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Build trusted, long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for account growth.
  • Lead proposals, pitches and new business activity.
  • Collaborate with specialists across strategy, analytics and consulting.
  • Mentor and develop researchers within the team.

About You

  • You'll already be operating at Research Director level (or be an established Associate Director ready to step up) within an agency or consultancy environment.
  • You'll bring:
    • Strong mixed-methodology research experience.
    • A proven track record of leading senior client relationships.
    • Excellent storytelling, presentation and strategic thinking skills.
    • Experience delivering complex research programmes from proposal through to debrief.
    • Commercial awareness and experience growing client accounts.
    • Previous people management experience.
    • A genuine interest in sport. Experience working with sports organisations or rights holders would be highly advantageous.
