Research Engineer - AI / ML / LLM

We are partnered with a global leader in the semiconductor industry. The team is looking to hire a Research Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge AI projects spanning both applied and fundamental research, with a focus on applying AI to semiconductor design and optimisation.

This is a permanent opportunity based in London or Cambourne, UK.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement and test research ideas across machine learning and AI.
  • Build prototypes and support experiments for team and company projects.
  • Collaborate with researchers to translate theoretical models into practical systems.
  • Maintain and improve research infrastructure, tools, and workflows.
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports.

Key requirements

  • Experience implementing machine learning algorithms and techniques.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX) advantageous.
  • Experience with optimisation, reinforcement learning, or LLMs a plus.
  • Exposure to chip design or applied AI research desirable.
