Research Engineer - AI / ML / LLM
We are partnered with a global leader in the semiconductor industry. The team is looking to hire a Research Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge AI projects spanning both applied and fundamental research, with a focus on applying AI to semiconductor design and optimisation.
This is a permanent opportunity based in London or Cambourne, UK.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and test research ideas across machine learning and AI.
- Build prototypes and support experiments for team and company projects.
- Collaborate with researchers to translate theoretical models into practical systems.
- Maintain and improve research infrastructure, tools, and workflows.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports.

Key requirements
- Experience implementing machine learning algorithms and techniques.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX) advantageous.
- Experience with optimisation, reinforcement learning, or LLMs a plus.
- Exposure to chip design or applied AI research desirable.
