About the Role
We’re recruiting a Research Engineer to explore and refine methods enabling AI agents to collaborate effectively. Your work will focus on designing and implementing advanced AI discovery systems, bridging the fields of machine learning, algorithms, and software engineering.

Key areas of contribution will include:
- Collaborative AI systems for aligned, high-level objectives
- Research translation from theory to impactful technological solutions
- Interdisciplinary collaboration across research and engineering teams
Responsibilities
- Research and develop frameworks for AI agent collaboration targeting well-defined objectives
- Prototype, evaluate, and refine new research hypotheses rapidly
- Design experiments to enhance AI system capabilities in terms of efficiency, robustness, and scalability
- Collaborate with researchers and technical leadership to align research deliverables with business and product goals
- Stay informed about breakthroughs in:
- AI agents and emergent behaviours
- Large language models and generative systems
- Search and optimisation algorithms
- Automated discovery and gradual concept development
Qualifications
Essential
- PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications
- Strong software engineering skills, including:
- Proficiency with Python for AI-related development
- Hands-on experience in open-source contributions or building large-scale, complex systems
- Outstanding collaboration, communication, and teamwork abilities across research and engineering domains

Preferred
- Experience in GPU programming (CUDA) and performance optimisation
- Prior work with agentic architectures, positioning logic, or planning/reasoning frameworks
- Profound expertise in:
- Algorithmic design and optimisation
- Building evaluation platforms and experimentation pipelines
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with high analytical rigor
- Experience in a startup or entrepreneurial R&D setting
