About the Role

We are seeking a Research Engineer to research and implement methods for enabling AI agents to collaborate effectively. You will contribute to the design and development of next-generation AI discovery systems, working at the intersection of machine learning, algorithms, and software engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop approaches for collaborative AI agents working towards predefined objectives
  • Rapidly prototype, evaluate, and iterate on new research ideas
  • Design and conduct experiments to improve the capabilities, efficiency, and robustness of AI systems
  • Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and technical leadership to align research outcomes with product and organisational goals
  • Stay up to date with advances in AI agents, large language models, search, optimisation, and automated discovery

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a strong publication record
  • Demonstrated software engineering skills, including experience contributing to open-source projects and building complex systems in Python
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across research and engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GPU programming and performance optimisation
  • Experience developing agent-based systems, planning, or reasoning frameworks
  • Strong background in algorithms and optimisation
  • Experience building evaluation frameworks and experimentation platforms
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
  • Experience working in a startup or similarly dynamic environment
