Main Duties of the Job
The Research and Development (R&D) Department at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Research Facilitator responsible for managing research studies across the trust. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring timely setup and prioritisation of research studies in line with national/local metrics and key performance indicators.
- Working with commercial and non-commercial research streams within multidisciplinary teams to provide an efficient and customer-focused service.
- Operating in an agile manner, including flexible in-office and remote work (typically 22.5–24 hours/week).
What You’ll Do
As the Research Facilitator, you will collaborate with research teams, investigators, and senior managers to drive the UHS R&D strategy:
- Serve as the specialist contact for study setup and support.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of R&D resources for study development.
- Collect performance data and generate reports to track progress.
- Perform deputising duties for the Divisional Research Manager.

What We’re Looking For
Personality & Skills
We seek a dynamic, outgoing, and relationship-focused individual with:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in IT systems, especially web-based applications.
- Project management aptitude.
- Flexibility to manage shifting priorities.
Experience
Core Requirements:
- Understanding of R&D issues in the NHS and research governance.
- Proof of continuous professional development relevant to the role.
- Experience in clinical research setup, delivery, or cost attribution.
- Experience with training and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliance.
- Project management background.
- Basic knowledge of research grants.
Work ideally available on Mondays and Tuesdays (core hours: 8 AM–4 PM, but flexible arrangements possible).
Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential Criteria
- Clinical or scientific degree, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Significant experience in healthcare R&D systems, clinical research delivery, and cost attribution.
- Familiarity with research governance and quality assurance protocols.
- Experience running specific R&D training programs or programs supporting clinical research.
- Current GCP training completion.
- Project management experience.

Desirable Criteria
- Background in ** 테이Certificate schools or University Hospital environments**.
- Practical experience with IRAS (Integrated Research Application System) or NRES databases.
- Knowledge of 边GE (R&D Management & Governance tool).
