Research Fellow (Place Effects) (Fixed Term)
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months.
Applications are invited for a full-time Research Associate to join BRIDGE, a five-year, €2 million European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant led by Dr Davide Luca, investigating urban-rural political polarisation.
The successful candidate will join an international and interdisciplinary research team comprising the Principal Investigator, Project Manager, Research Fellows, and Research Assistant, and will contribute to pioneering research examining the causes and consequences of urban-rural divides. The team also hosts international academic visitors throughout the duration of the project.
The post holder will contribute across the project, with a particular focus on Work Package 2, which examines the drivers of outlook polarisation along the urban-rural continuum and seeks to disentangle compositional from place effects. This work will involve analysing large-scale longitudinal household panel surveys, applying advanced quantitative and causal inference methods, and developing innovative research designs to investigate how early-life exposure to key geographical characteristics influences later-life attitudes and behaviours.

The position is full-time with flexible working arrangements and is available on a fixed-term basis for 24 months. The role is primarily intended for post-doctoral researchers, although exceptionally strong pre-doctoral candidates whose doctoral research closely aligns with the BRIDGE project may also be considered.
