Research Nurse I

Turn Your First Years on the Ward

Ng Career Path has not Turned Out as Expected?

Have your first 1–2 years on a hospital ward not turned out the way you expected? At Fortrea’s Early Clinical Research Unit in Drapers Yard, Leeds, you can use that hard-earned experience in a different way, helping shape new medical treatments while still making a direct impact on patient care.

You will work in our modern 65,000 sq ft, 100-bed clinic, just 7 minutes from the train station. It is here where life-saving medicines begin their journey. As a nurse, you will be part of those early steps, supporting research right when new treatments are first explored.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver safe, high-quality care to clinical trial participants
  • Work autonomously to carry out procedures such as:
    • Cannulation
    • Blood samples (bloods)
    • ECGs
    • Observations
    • Administration of medicines
  • Monitor participant wellbeing and document any adverse events
  • Obtain informed consent and guide participants through study procedures
  • Record accurate data in electronic systems to support study quality
  • Learn how research studies are planned and conducted
  • Develop your skills until you are responsible for your own studies

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
