Research Scientist, AI Verification
Meta is looking for Research Scientists to join our AI Verification team. For these positions, we look for people with experience in model training or agentic AI to complement the verification expertise in our team. The candidate will have hands-on experience in building trustworthy and reliable AI models and agents, including:
- Designing comprehensive evaluation benchmarks
- Optimizing training processes
- Ensuring high-quality data pipelines
The candidate will help create and evaluate data and environments for training ML models, as well as design benchmarks to judge agents and models.
The overall focus of the team is to:
- Use formal program verification to make AI better (safer, more reliable)
- Use AI to enhance formal verification (making it more feasible)
These ML roles will be pivotal in connecting symbolic verification to neural AI—bridging the gap between symbolic reasoning and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Lead, collaborate, and execute research advancing state-of-the-art AI reasoning and verification
- Partner with verification experts within the team and collaborate with ML and agentic AI experts across Meta’s research teams
- Work toward long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying achievable milestones
- Contribute to experiments by:
- Designing experimental details
- Implementing reusable code
- Running evaluations for AI models/agents
- Play a role in publications and open-sourcing initiatives
- Mentor team members and collaborate across functions to:
- Align on research goals
- Deliver consistent results

Qualifications
Minimum
- Currently holds or pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Experience with:
- ML model evaluation
- Training pipelines
- Benchmark or agent design/evaluation
- Peer-reviewed publications in Machine Learning, AI, or related fields
- Ability to obtain and maintain ongoing work authorization in the country of employment

Preferred
- First-author publications at top AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, *ACL, EMNLP)
- Experience with large-scale training infrastructure and data pipelines
- Designing and implementing evaluation benchmarks for large AI models/agents
- Formal verification or automatic program analysis expertise
