Role Overview
We are currently looking for a Research Scientist with expertise in Synthetic Organic Chemistry to join a leading innovator in chemistry materials based in the Oxfordshire area. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated scientist to contribute to groundbreaking projects with various high-impact applications.
In this integral role, you will support the research and development of advanced coating chemistries, pushing the boundaries of existing technologies and expanding the company's intellectual property portfolio. You will work within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to turn scientific insights into real-world solutions. This role is to work for our client who are a high growth entrepreneurial business, who are looking for somebody to be on site 5 days a week and become part of an above and beyond culture.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Your duties as the Research Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Conduct practical lab-based research to develop and optimise coating formulations aligned with customer needs and emerging markets.
- Support the expansion of the company's core platform and contribute to the innovation pipeline.
- Test and analyse coatings across different substrates and material forms, including applications in purification, chromatography, and surface modification.
- Evaluate technical results to inform further surface treatment process development, apply knowledge for product advancement.
- As the Research Scientist, you will prepare, review, and document technical reports, process development procedures, and standard operating protocols.

Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Research Scientist, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A PhD in Chemistry (e.g., Organic Chemistry / Synthetic Organic Chemistry / Materials Science) with proven practical lab experience
- Strong experience in organic synthesis, coating formulation focused on the research of commercially viable applications
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple work streams efficiently.
