Research Software Engineer
Research Engineer
One of our clients is looking for a Research Software Engineer in London, with 3 days per week office-based duty at Kings Cross.

Job Title and Location
Research Engineer Location: Kings Cross, London (3 days to office) Duration: 6 months – extensions possible
Responsibilities
- Carry out cutting-edge research to advance science and technology of machine learning systems.
- Design methods, tools, and infrastructure to further state-of-the-art large language models.
- Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners through:
- Communication of research plans, progress, and results.
- Suggesting, collecting, and synthesizing requirements.
- Creating an effective feature roadmap.
- Co-develop code deliverables alongside the engineering team.
- Publish research results and contribute to Meta product development.

Minimum Qualifications
Core experience in:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
- Machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, data mining, or AI.
- Scalable machine learning model development (e.g., programmatically querying LLMs and post-training via APIs).
- Python programming proficiency + PyTorch/other frameworks implementation.
- Experience engineering software pipelines for large-scale AI models/datasets.
- Ability to translate technical insights into business recommendations.

Academic Background
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline,
- or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research.
- PhD or research-focused Master’s degree in machine learning-related fields.
