External Researcher – Newcastle City Library
£24,479 | 35 Hours Per Week | Full-Time | Newcastle Upon Tyne
12 month fixed term contract
Are you naturally curious, passionate about research, and enjoy uncovering hidden stories from historical records?
A leading genealogy and probate research firm is looking for an External Researcher to support its team in tracing heirs and beneficiaries through detailed family history research.
Based on-site at Newcastle City Library, you'll work with historical archives, including birth, marriage and death certificates, census records, parish registers, and other genealogical sources, helping to verify information and build accurate family trees.

The Role
- Conduct in-depth research using historical and archive records
- Verify and validate information to assist ongoing heir-tracing investigations
- Support researchers by locating and documenting key family history information
- Maintain accurate records and data entry
- Work independently while managing multiple research requests

- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organisational and process-driven skills
- Good data entry and record-keeping abilities
- The ability to work autonomously and manage their own workload
