Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2026
The role
Researchers, part of Multistory Media-Daytime, will help to pull three shows (Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women) together by writing accurate and interesting briefs for presenters, conducting research chats with well known faces and experts. Researchers are encouraged to regularly pitch ideas for the TV programmes and social channels of all daytime shows. The role supports the production of a broad range of content including breaking news, emotional real-life stories, health and consumer items, and celebrity interviews.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Experience in a live television environment
- Previous experience at Researcher level in a journalistic environment (minimum of 2 researcher credits)
- Demonstrable experience and confidence in conducting research chats, writing briefs/scripts and working with on screen guests, presenters and experts
- Must possess a good understanding of current affairs, topical stories and trends
- Working experience and strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements. (H&S, Data Protection, OFCOM and ITV Editorial Policy)
- Clear understanding and adherence to duty of care protocols
- Ideas creation and experience generating a constant stream of ideas
- An understanding of what social content resonates with audiences

Creativity/Problem Solving
- Proven experience of supporting content creation with developing creative ideas and an understanding of editorial needs
- Must be an ideas creator with a flair to spot trends and stories that will talk to our viewers and audiences
- Proven experience of supporting the process of taking ideas from initial concept to production
- Proven experience at assisting teams in identifying and finding solutions on your own initiative to production issues
Communication
- Possess good people skills and effectively brief guests, on screen presenters and on screen experts
- Communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently across all levels, fostering good collaboration and alignment within the team and with stakeholders
- Has the aptitude to work in a demanding environment while keeping a calm approach and ensuring communication of creative vision with the team is clear

Planning & Organising
- Manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Experience of conducting detailed research chats and writing concise, accurate briefs and scripts in a timely manner
- Effectively organise tasks and workload, anticipate potential challenges and changes as required, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and align to budgets
- Show an adaptable approach to contributing to the team's goals and a proactive attitude towards task completion
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Possesses strong attention to detail and exhibits an aptitude for writing engaging script ideas and briefs, alongside a developing awareness of current affairs, news, and topical trends
- Shows an understanding of the need for reliable sources and can identify different types of information sources and methods for finding them
- Shows an understanding of adhering to compliance and copyright regulations (covering archive, stills, property, and music)
- Good knowledge of compliance, legal regulations, OFCOM regulations, production hazards and Health & Safety regulations.
Working with Others
- Collaborative team player who works effectively with individuals across departments and teams to achieve programme goals
- Demonstrates a proactive approach and willingness to undertake various tasks
- Demonstrates active participation and positive contributions within team environments, consistently showing a willingness to support others and work effectively with colleagues. Exhibits initiative in team tasks.
- Has a foundational awareness of production management principles, including scheduling, location considerations, and health and safety
- Work flexibly across all programmes as required by production needs
