Job Summary

The Product Analyst (Reservoir Engineering) is a key member of the digital product team and provides technical insight and solution design throughout the product lifecycle.

Leveraging strong technical domain expertise, the role translates product roadmap requirements into clear, actionable design specifications for a team of digital engineers.

The Reservoir Engineer Product Analyst:

  • Evaluates and tests product prototypes to ensure they meet usability expectations, customer needs, and roadmap objectives.
  • Conducts post-development technical validation to confirm the product delivers against the defined acceptance criteria—ensuring adoption within our customer base.

Typical Responsibilities & Duties

  • Product Design: Develop options that meet roadmap goals and customer requirements.
  • Enhance Usability: Work with the UX team to optimize product usability and automation for better development efficiency.
  • AI Integration: Ensure products leverage the latest advances in AI technology.
  • Engineering Guidance: Provide daily technical insights to engineering teams on product functionality.
  • Work Item Definition: Offer detailed descriptions and acceptance criteria for new functionalities.
  • Client Prioritization: Assist in prioritizing client requirements during sprint planning.
  • Accuracy Validation: Validate the accuracy of developed solutions.
  • Prototype Testing: Conduct testing for prototypes and commercial products to ensure specification compliance, including customer focus groups when appropriate to ensure alignment.
  • Customer Validation: Support User-Experience definition and continuously validate through testing and data analysis. Follow up with customers to confirm resolution of bugs and implementation of requirements.
  • Post-Development Communication: Inform clients about timelines for product enhancements, updates, and upgrades.
  • Product Quality: Collaborate with engineering to maintain high product quality standards.
  • Build Product Material: Produce training documentation, demo videos, and marketing materials.

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of product design and technical requirements to create viable solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate product functionalities and enhancements to engineering teams and clients.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to optimize development and troubleshoot issues.
  • Customer Focus: A customer-oriented approach to understand and prioritize client needs, while validating product solutions.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Ability to work cross-functionally and lead product quality initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in Reservoir Engineering.
  • Educated to Master’s level in a related discipline.
  • Desired: Experience working with SLB product portfolio (Petrel, Intersect, etc.).
