Residence Manager

Equans is looking for a Residence Manager to join our team at the University of Brighton on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package.

The post holder will be responsible for all operational staff for the University of Brighton’s accommodation which includes cleaners, waste management, and ground maintenance. The Residence Manager will be responsible for budgets and performance of residence and cleaning services as well as maintaining a close liaison with the Client FM Function in ensuring day to day requirements of delivering the required services are met.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience managing soft services, ideally within the hospitality sector (hotels or student accommodation).

What will you deliver?

  • To deliver high-quality cleaning services ensuring added value, increased productivity, and cost efficiencies wherever possible and encourage innovation from staff to provide on-going service improvements.
  • To manage the output of the cleaning functions, ensuring high standards of customer service at all times.
  • Responsible for administering and supervising the operation of the student residential experience, facilitating student/tenant issues in conjunction with management support ensuring a positive, healthy, and safe living environment for students.
  • To organise the student lettings in an effective and timely manner, coordinating student arrivals and departures ensuring rooms and facilities are provided in line with requirements, escalating issues as required to the relevant teams. Ensure rooms are refreshed as required.
  • To carry out regular audits to ensure all key performance and management indicators are met, and ensure operational delivery is high quality and compliant with statutory and contractual obligations.
  • To co-ordinate all contract-wide initiatives in respect to the summer lets that run across multiple work streams to deliver a timely, seamless client solution.
  • To formulate suitable strategies, in conjunction with the university, to mobilise and meet the demands of service provision, ongoing improvement, and adaptation to changing processes and environments.
  • To ensure all company deliverables that span multiple work streams are being delivered by all service managers to include safety tours, TBT delivery, training plans.
  • To take full responsibility for the performance of direct reports, including working patterns, timekeeping, performance management, sickness absence, annual leave, preparation of rotas, and improvement of knowledge of the services provided and any necessary training and/or development.
  • To exercise financial and commercial controls in the management of expenditure and income within agreed budgets and take remedial action where appropriate. To maximise profitability of operations and deliver ongoing cost savings.
  • Assist in ensuring subcontractors are meeting client requirements and contract KPI’s/SLA’s.
  • Manage the appropriate service work orders on Maximo.
  • To fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy Statement, Display Screen Assessments, Guidelines and Procedures. Seek advice from Managers/Supervisors/Team Leaders where necessary.
