About the Role
Are you experienced in resident-facing roles—particularly within social housing, housing services, or a comparable public-sector environment? Do you thrive in roles requiring:
- Clear, sensitive communication with diverse residents, including explaining technical works in accessible language?
- Acting as a key point of contact during on-site projects, managing expectations, access, and communication effectively?
- Tracking, logging, and resolving resident complaints/issues in collaboration with contractors and project teams?
If so, this role is for you.
The Resident Liaison Officer supports Lewisham’s housing investment and retrofit programmes, ensuring smooth delivery by:
- Coordinating resident engagement activities
- Managing day-to-day communication across estates and households
- Supporting positive resident experiences from start to finish of works
- Working closely with contractors, surveyors, energy advisors, and Council teams
Responsibilities
Core duties include:
- Proactive resident liaison: Ensuring clear, compassionate communication about ongoing/upcoming works.
- Issue resolution: Logging, tracking, and escalating resident concerns in collaboration with contractors and internal teams.
- Community engagement: Supporting schemes to improve accessibility, inclusion, and trust between residents and housing teams.
- Collaboration: Working with contractors, surveyors, and community partners to facilitate works in occupied homes.
- Record-keeping: Maintaining accurate logs of consultations, complaints, and project progress.
- Accessibility compliance: Ensuring activities align with equality and inclusion principles, including support for vulnerable residents.

** Requirements**
We’re looking for a professional with:
- Strong experience in resident-facing social housing, capital works, or public-sector roles.
- Proven ability to explain technical/planning processes clearly and sensitively to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including trust-building, managing expectations, and conflict resolution.
- Hands-on experience with resident engagement initiatives—especially in occupied housing environments.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), plus a genuine desire to support marginalised groups.
- Solid record-keeping and reporting skills essential.

Location & Working Arrangements
The role is primarily based in Laurence House, Lewisham, with a hybrid model (office and regular home-based working). Some evening/weekend work may be required to accommodate resident engagement.
