Resident housekeeper
Resident Housekeeper – South Kensington (Live-in Position)
The Resident Housekeeper plays a critical role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety across a private residential block housing 22 flats. This is a live-in position that ensures communal areas, external pathways, and shared facilities are pristine, inviting, and hazard-free for both residents and visitors.
The ideal candidate will report directly to the Facilities Manager and must commit to working Saturday mornings where required. The role offers:
- Free accommodation (a 2-bedroom onsite flat for the duration of employment) with rent and utilities covered
- A well-organised, secure living environment in South Kensington
Responsibilities
Communal Area Cleaning Daily and weekly cleaning tasks include:
- Cleaning and washing bins and bin areas (twice weekly, Mondays & Thursdays)
- Hoovering main communal hallways (three times weekly, or more if necessary)
- Mopping lift floors (daily, including hardwood/tiled surfaces)
- Total deep-cleaning of internal areas: windows, skirting boards, bannisters, and floors to walls
- Annual external surface hosing (around 6 months) and seasonal deep-cleaning (increased frequency in summer)
- Cleaning external contractors’ toilets (three times weekly)
- Maintaining high standards in storage areas (regular hoovering or mopping)

External Areas & Entrances
- Daily sweeping and clearing of basements, stairways, and exteriors to prevent debris/build-up
- Polishing and cleaning brass fittings on external doors and glazing (excluding contractor-specific zones)
- Monitoring and actioning algae clean-ups around the property (report any persistent issues)
Inspections & Reporting
- Bi-weekly checks and reporting of lift lines to Cluttons Facilities Management
- Proactive reporting of maintenance issues or repairs needed to the Facilities Manager
- Addressing resident complaints/suggestions and relaying updates upwards

Operational Support
- Coordinating and taking resident deliveries during working hours (within availability)
- Collecting and submitting end-of-month meter readings for all buildings to the utilities provider
Requirements
- Proven experience in residential housekeeping or comparable roles
- Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment
- Excellent time-management and efficiency to meet schedules
- Attention to detail with a commitment to high standards
- Ability to follow procedures, health-and-safety, and hygiene protocols
- Demonstrates flexibility, reliability, and proactive problem-solving
