Job Description

Role Overview

As a Service Technician, you will:

  • Carry out safe, professional, and cost-effective service and repairs to forklift equipment on customer sites.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety and Quality procedures.
  • Monitor on-site stock to ensure sufficient inventory for daily fleet maintenance.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure repaired trucks meet safety standards.
  • Accurately complete job sheets, timesheets, purchase requisitions, and parts paperwork within deadlines.
  • Take responsibility for all tools, equipment (van, laptop, printer), and ensure they arefit-for-purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work to planned scheduled deadlines for service and maintenance tasks.
  • Occasional off-site work may be necessary.
  • Fault diagnosis and remedial work.
  • Uphold quality and safety compliance.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation and technical reports.

Knowledge & Training Requirements

You must have knowledge in one of the following fields and demonstrate willingness for specialised training:

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Hydraulics

Person Specification

Essential Skills

  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Proficient in fault finding & repair processes.
  • GCSE standard (≥ Grade C) in English & Mathematics.
  • Practical experience in Health & Safety workshop environments.
  • Self-motivated and committed to continuous professional development.
  • Strong organisational skills, problem-solving attitude, and accuracy under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Savvy to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Consultation and negotiation skills.
  • Flexible to manage diverse operational demands.
  • Resilience, initiative, and ability to perform under pressure.

Desirable Skills

  • Recent forklift truck service experience (not compulsory).
  • Engineering qualifications (advantageous).

Working Hours

Monday – Friday, with a shift pattern discussing at interview.
