Job Description
Role Overview
As a Service Technician, you will:
- Carry out safe, professional, and cost-effective service and repairs to forklift equipment on customer sites.
- Adhere to Health & Safety and Quality procedures.
- Monitor on-site stock to ensure sufficient inventory for daily fleet maintenance.
- Conduct inspections and ensure repaired trucks meet safety standards.
- Accurately complete job sheets, timesheets, purchase requisitions, and parts paperwork within deadlines.
- Take responsibility for all tools, equipment (van, laptop, printer), and ensure they arefit-for-purpose.

Key Responsibilities
- Work to planned scheduled deadlines for service and maintenance tasks.
- Occasional off-site work may be necessary.
- Fault diagnosis and remedial work.
- Uphold quality and safety compliance.
- Maintain meticulous documentation and technical reports.
Knowledge & Training Requirements
You must have knowledge in one of the following fields and demonstrate willingness for specialised training:
- Mechanical engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Hydraulics
Person Specification
Essential Skills
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
- Proficient in fault finding & repair processes.
- GCSE standard (≥ Grade C) in English & Mathematics.
- Practical experience in Health & Safety workshop environments.
- Self-motivated and committed to continuous professional development.
- Strong organisational skills, problem-solving attitude, and accuracy under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
- Savvy to work independently or collaboratively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Consultation and negotiation skills.
- Flexible to manage diverse operational demands.
- Resilience, initiative, and ability to perform under pressure.
Desirable Skills
- Recent forklift truck service experience (not compulsory).
- Engineering qualifications (advantageous).
