The job role is graded between 6 - 8, plus a 7% enhancement for rota'd hours. Sleep-in duties incur additional payment.
Advert Wording
Children’s Residential Care Practitioners provide in-person support across a range of Kirklees locations. The role cannot be carried out remotely, so you must be able to travel to and from Kirklees as part of your normal working arrangements.
We currently have six children’s homes.
- Four homes that provide long-term care for up to 4 children aged 9 to 18 years. These homes are based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury.
- We have two specialist homes that provide care for children with disabilities and complex health needs. One provides long-term care for up to 6 children aged 11 – 18 and one provides short breaks for children who usually live with their family or carers.
- We are currently expanding our homes to include small group living homes caring for up to 2 children at any one time.
Role
Due to the expansion of our service we looking to recruit the following roles in our children’s homes and our disability homes:
- Day shifts which include occasional sleep-ins (37 hours per week across 7 day rota)
- Waking nights (35 hours per week)
About The Role
- Provide safe, nurturing care in a therapeutic, trauma-informed environment.
- Build warm, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
- Contribute to care planning, assessments and daily routines.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure safeguarding at all times.
- Work a rota including sleep-ins and occasional waking nights.

About You
- Experience of supporting children/young people
- An ability to build trusting relationships
- Strong communication skills
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour
- Commitment to achieving the Level 3 Diploma
- Enhanced DBS requirement
