Residential Child Care Worker

Location: North Lancashire – Morecambe and Lancaster Salary: £28,142 – £32,061 per annum (starting salary £28,142, plus enhancements for weekend work, shift work, and sleep-in duty) Type: Permanent, Full-Time (37 hours per week) Visa Sponsorship: Not available for this role

About Our Service Our Children's Residential Service is growing with new children’s homes and changes to existing facilities across the County. We’re seeking passionate, dedicated Residential Child Care Workers to join teams in Morecambe and Lancaster.

We believe in providing positive, meaningful, and lifelong relationships for the children we support. By fostering an environment of creativity and fun – both inside and outside our homes – we aim to help young people develop across all areas of their lives. Our children and young people, aged 11 to 17, come to us due to factors such as adverse childhood experiences or trauma, and we prioritise care tailored to their needs.

About the Role

As a Residential Child Care Worker, your role will include:

  • Living, working, and caring at our children’s homes, sharing meals and sleep routines with the children and young people.
  • Supporting with household tasks (cleaning, cooking, shopping).
  • Developing 1:1 support with children to address emotional well-being, behaviours, and needs through compassionate engagement and teamwork.
  • Collaborating with external professionals (social workers, schools, police, health services) to help ensure comprehensive care.
  • Operating on a rota system, working days, evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
