Residential Child Care Worker – Two New Settings, Skelmersdale

Salary: £28,142 - £32,061 per annum (plus enhancements for shift work, weekend working, and sleep-in duty) Hours: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week) Visa Sponsorship: Not offered for this role

About the Organisation and Role

Our "Where Our Children Live" programme seeks passionate individuals to join our Children’s Residential Service in Skelmersdale. We are launching two innovative settings:

  • Pause & Reflect Home – A 2-bedroom residence for young people aged 11–17 in urgent need of short-term care. Placements will be temporary, but the right worker is essential to provide strong, reliable support during this critical period.

  • SPACE Hub (Outreach Role) – Requires a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (not mandatory for the Pause & Reflect Home).

As a Residential Child Care Worker, you will:

  • Live in the home with children/young people (11–17 years old)
  • Support daily life: cooking, cleaning, and shopping
  • Respond to adverse childhood experiences, trauma, or unsafe family situations
  • Develop 1:1 relationships to address feelings, behaviours, and emotional needs
  • Collaborate with social workers, psychologists, schools, and health professionals
  • Be available for shift work, night shifts, and sleep-in duties

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
