Residential Conveyancer

Solicitor / Chartered Legal Executive

📍 Tavistock, Devon | 🕘 Full-time, Permanent

💷 £65,000–£70,000 depending on experience.

Do you want to do conveyancing properly again?

If you are tired of high-volume, factory-style work and want to build real relationships with clients, this could be the role for you.

No factory-style conveyancing. No unrealistic caseloads.

At Chilcotts Law, we believe in doing things differently — focusing on quality, personal service, and long-term client relationships, not volume targets.

About Us

With a proud history dating back to the 1800s, Chilcotts Law is a well-established and highly respected firm in the heart of Tavistock.

We work with clients across West Devon, South East Cornwall and beyond, many of whom have been with us for generations. Our reputation is built on trust, expertise, and genuinely personal service.

Located on the edge of Dartmoor, Tavistock offers an exceptional quality of life, with easy access to Plymouth and the South West coastline.

The Role

We are looking for a Residential Conveyancer (Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive) to join our friendly and busy team.

You will manage your own caseload with the support of experienced colleagues and three highly skilled Legal Secretaries, allowing you to focus on delivering excellent client service rather than admin.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
