The role of the Legal Assistant is to provide conveyancing admin support to fee earner colleagues (southern based) to allow them to provide quality legal advice and an exceptional conveyancing and secured lending services to our clients.
You will assist fee-earners with managing their caseloads of purchase, sale, remortgage, secured lending and other associated matters for both freehold and leasehold properties. More specifically, the conveyancing tasks you can expect to support fee earners with include, but not limited to:
Completing file openings and conducting conflict checks. Assisting with compliance procedures. Preparing sales packs and liaising with managing agents Preparing initial forms. Drafting contract documents. Completing post-completion processes including Land Registry applications. Requesting property searches. Preparing letters to clients, banks other solicitors and other third parties. Updating spreadsheets and keeping track of statutory dates. Liaising closely with clients to keep them up to date on the progress of their matter. Ensuring all appropriate documentation is recorded and updated as required. Reprographics tasks including photocopying, scanning, binding and printing. Dealing with incoming and outgoing post. Ensuring that documents and emails are filed to the electronic files; and Dealing with payment and invoice processing.

We're looking for a Legal Assistant with a personable nature, who has a willingness to get stuck in and wants to join a close knit team. Our ideal candidate will have the following:
Demonstrable experience providing support to fee earners within the Conveyancing/Residential Property space Demonstrable experience working in an administrative/secretarial capacity, working with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment A familiarity with HMLR, SDLT and conveyancing searches and documentation The ability to provide excellent customer and client service Good IT skills, specifically high proficiency in all Microsoft Office packages
Please also note that the role entails working five days per week on site in Newbury during the probation period for training and will then revert to a hybrid working model upon successful completion of probation.
