About the Role & Team
With a 300-year history, Battens is proud to be more than just a law firm—it’s a forward-thinking organisation whose leaders attribute its exceptional service to the dedication and talent of its team. Here, ambition is celebrated, collaboration thrives, and professional growth is prioritised.
We are now seeking a researched, client-focused Residential Property Lawyer to join our prestigious Yeovil team—a highly regarded group spanning nearly 60 fee earners (from NQs to industry legends) and exceptional support staff.

- Managing sales, purchases, remortgages, and equity transfers with firm legal rigour and client-centric pragmatism.
- Leveraging commercial experience to safeguard client goals, even during complex negotiations.
- Delivering rapid legal advice and proactive risk identification, contributing to successful outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
