Role: Residential Support Worker - Days

Salary: £25,949 per annum

Location: Telford

Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full Time – 37 hours per week (including weekends and bank holidays)

A bit about the role

Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. We are looking for committed, caring Residential Support Workers to work flexibly and provide high quality day-to-day care to our children and young people. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering person centred care, guidance and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and are encouraged to reach their full potential.

In return we offer an in-depth induction and amazing opportunities for career progression. We'll enrol you on necessary industry qualification along with regular supervisions and team meetings to ensure you feel part of our team.

What you do could make a difference

  • Providing essential support to children and young people within our residential home
  • Create a safe and nurturing environment to foster their independence
  • Engaging in diverse day-to-day activities tailored to the needs of the young person
  • Assisting with household tasks like cooking and cleaning
  • Supporting learning and homework completion
  • Building trust and responsibility to accompany our young people to activities and appointments
  • May be required to write reports to assist with meetings
  • Lead by example with the application of Action for Children's policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements.

Let’s talk about you

Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We are looking for someone with a ‘can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:

  • Experience of working in a Residential care setting
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) is preferred but not essential but willingness to work towards it is
  • Experience and training in safeguarding
  • An innovative and creative approach to problem solving
  • Knowledge of completing and updating & developing tailored care plans
  • The ability to create a safe and fun environment for both staff and children in the home and in the community.

About the Service

Acorn way is an exciting new residential care home providing accommodation and support for up to four children and young people aged 5 to 18 years with both physical and learning disabilities. Our aim is to create a caring and comfortable environment where each young person feels safe, valued, and supported to develop their life skills and achieve the best possible quality of life. The home currently provides care for one young person, with plans for a second to join us soon.
