Residential Support Worker

Support Worker (Children & Young People, SEN & Autism) – Surrey

About the Role & Setting

Location: Surrey Salary: £25,308.79 to £27,180.57k (Based on 44.25 hours/week)

This award-winning part residential school is a specialist independent provision supporting learners with Autism and SEN needs. The setting is seeking a Support Worker on a full-time basis (Mon–Fri or Mon–Sun) with flexibility for part-time candidates.

This is a term-time only role due to its school and residential nature. Support workers will work variation shifts in a bright, modern setting with top-of-the-range facilities, on-site therapies, and individualised education and care plans.

Shift Patterns

(Choose your preference—equally flexible for Mon–Fri or Mon–Sun employees)

Monday–Friday (up to 44.25hrs)

  • 06:45–13:30
  • 15:45–22:00
  • Long shift (split): 06:45–13:30 + 15:45–22:00

Monday–Sunday (up to 44.25hrs)

  • 06:45–13:30
  • 15:45–22:00
  • Long shift (split): 06:45–13:30 + 15:45–22:00
  • 12:00–22:00
  • 06:45–16:00

Support is provided for learners aged 5 to 25. A core focus lies on education, career readiness, life skills, and work experience.


Responsibilities

  • Support young people with daily living skills and encourage independence
  • Care for learners with severe and complex needs
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships to promote safety and confidence
  • Facilitate education, hobbies, recreation, and community engagement
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals, and families

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following conditions to be considered:

  • Relevant experience in teaching assistance, childcare, or adult care (desirable)
  • Experience in autism, SEN support, or personal experience (desirable)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (essential)
  • Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available
